Clinton Man Facing Charges Following Teen Drug Overdose Incident

A Clinton man is facing criminal charges following a drug-related incident that left a 15-year-old boy unresponsive and required emergency medical intervention.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Officer Jordan Dills of the Clinton Police Department, officers responded to a residence on June 19, 2025, after receiving a report of a suspected drug overdose involving an adult and a 15-year-old male. Officer Keith Keller and Officer Patrick Barry located the two victims in a bedroom, where the teenager was found unconscious and required multiple doses of Narcan to regain consciousness.

The teenager later told police that the previous day, he and the adult had met a homeless male subject known as “Josh” near Clinton Convenience. The suspect, later identified as Joshua Alan Leisure, allegedly handed the teen a plastic baggie containing a substance that appeared to be laced with fentanyl.

In a post-Miranda interview, Leisure admitted to meeting the teens but denied giving them any drugs. He claimed he was trying to take them to a residence to help clean it up and suggested they may have picked up the drugs elsewhere. Investigators noted, however, that Leisure had earlier told another witness he had methamphetamine on him and returned to the residence with a male and female the day after the overdose.

The Clinton Police Department continues its investigation into the incident. Leisure is being held on charges related to the incident and is expected to face formal proceedings in Henry County Circuit Court.

Authorities emphasize the dangers of fentanyl-laced substances and continue efforts to combat drug distribution in the community.
