Thyme for Seasoning Catering and Events is hosting Kids Cookie Decorating Classes on December 2nd and 3rd at the Twin Pines Golf Club, located at 3001 E. Mechanic Street in Harrisonville.

On Saturday, December 2nd, the class for children ages 6-9 will be from 12pm (noon) to 1:30pm, and the class for children ages 10-13 will be from 2pm to 3:30pm.

On Sunday, December 3rd, the class for children ages 6-9 will be from 1:30pm to 3pm, and the class for children ages 10-13 will be from 3:30pm to 5pm.

This is an opportunity to get your kids involved in culinary arts! The classes will include decorating Christmas cookies and talking about different decorating techniques. While your child is decorating, they will be enjoying a couple of treats, and the children get to take home the cookies they decorate!

The cost is $15 per child, and payment is due when you sign up your child. There is also a class capacity of 30 children per class, so sign up as soon as possible.

Nominations are being accepted for the January election of the Vernon County University of Missouri Extension Council members, according to Council Chairman, Tom Harold.  The Extension council meets monthly and supports the activities of the local Extension Center.

Council members are elected or appointed to two-year terms and may not serve more than two consecutive terms. Nominees must be at least 18 years of age and must reside in the district from which they are selected. Nominations must be made prior to December 8, 2017.

Nominations may be made through the council chairman or the county extension center.  You can contact the extension center at 417-448-2560 or go by the center in the ground floor of the Vernon County courthouse.  Nominees will be contacted to secure their permission to place their names on the January ballot.

University of Missouri Extension offers educational programs in categories such as agriculture, human environmental sciences, business and industry, community development, youth development (4-H) and various continuing education courses, seminars and workshops.

First Impressions Hair Salon in Belton is hosting a Christmas Panty Drive to benefit Hope Haven through the month of December.

Sports bras, regular bras, underwear, and panties can be dropped off at First Impressions Hair Salon, located at 8454 Clint Drive in Belton, through December 31st! Items are needed in all sizes and for children and adults.

The items will benefit Hope Haven of Cass County.

Hope Haven of Cass County exists to provide safe shelter, concentrated supportive services, community resources, and education to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and with public outreach, seeks to reduce the tolerance and frequency of domestic and sexual violence in our community.

The Butler High School Junior Class will be hosting a Christmas Homes Tour on December 3rd. The homes on the tour will be open from 1pm to 4pm.

Tickets to tour the homes will be $10 and they can be purchased from any of the homes on the tour.
