Medicare 101 to be presented at Warsaw Senior Center

A Care Connection for Aging Services “Medicare 101” workshop will take place at the Warsaw Senior Center at Harbor Village at noon on Dec. 28.

The session, which is free and open to the public, is geared toward people who are preparing for retirement or new to Medicare. Topics of the one-hour workshop will be benefits, premiums, deductibles and copayments, as well as the differences in Parts A, B, C, and D.

Reservations are required and can be made by calling Stacey Gilkeson at 1-800-748-7826.

People attending the workshop will learn how they may qualify for assistance in paying for prescriptions and medical care. The session also covers prescription drug plans, supplemental insurance and Medicare Advantage plans.

Care Connection does not sell insurance and will not recommend a particular plan.

Harrisonville City Office Holiday Hours

Harrisonville City Hall and most city offices will be closed December 25 and 26 for Christmas.  The Community Center will be open on Christmas Eve, 7 a.m.—3 p.m., closed Christmas Day, and open regular hours on December 26.

For the New Year’s Holiday, City Hall and other city offices will be closed January 1 and re-open on January 2.  The Board of Aldermen will meet on January 2 at 7 p.m.  The Community Center will be open New Year’s Eve, 7 a.m.—3 p.m., and closed January 1, re-opening on the regular schedule January 2.

Butler High School / Girls Basketball Cancelled Tonight at Buffalo

Due to a flu outbreak with our GIRLS Basketball team, we have decided to cancel the GIRLS basketball games tonight at Buffalo.

We will STILL PLAY the Boys games – JV Boys – 5:30;  Varsity Boys 7:00.

There has not been a date set for the re-schedule of the GIRLS games.  We will update that information when a date is set.

Missouri Department of Conservation 2018 Season Dates

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – At its meeting on Dec. 15, the Missouri Conservation Commission approved recommendations by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) for 2018-2019 turkey-hunting and deer-hunting season dates.

2018 SPRING AND FALL TURKEY HUNTING DATES
Spring Youth Portion: April 7 and 8
Regular Spring Turkey Season: April 16 through May 6
Fall Firearms Turkey Season: Oct. 1 – 31

2018 – 2019 ARCHERY DEER AND TURKEY HUNTING DATES
Archery Season: Sept. 15 through Nov. 9 and Nov. 21 through Jan. 15, 2019.

2018 – 2019 FIREARMS DEER HUNTING DATES

 

Firearms Deer Early Youth Portion: Oct. 27 and 28
Firearms Deer November Portion: Nov. 10 – 20
Firearms Deer Late Youth Portion: Nov. 23 – 25
Firearms Deer Antlerless Portion: Nov. 30 through Dec. 2
Firearms Deer Alternative Methods Portion: Dec. 22 through Jan. 1, 2019
