The 43rd Annual Amsterdam Jubilee is Friday and Saturday, September 27th and 28th in Amsterdam. This year’s theme is “These are my People”. Friday nights events are co-sponsored by the Amsterdam Jubilee committee and the Bates County Cattlemen with a BBQ dinner and music by The Irvins at the community building from 5 to 8 pm. Saturday is chalked full of fun and free entertainment starting with breakfast from 6 to 9 am at the community building served by the Miami sophomore class. There’s a 5K run, Horseshoes, Wool Spinning, Machine Shop and Sawmill Demonstrations, parade, lunch served by the Miami Senior class at the Amsterdam Café, 3 on 3 basketball, dog show, annual Buddy Fishing tournament, live music by Retroactive KC band, Jubilee crowning and raffle drawing and closing out the night is the Amsterdam Jubilee and Miami Alumni street dance, everyone is welcome to attend. There’s too much to name it all but it promises to be a good time at the 2019 Amsterdam Jubilee, September 27th and 28th. |

Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton.
In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
