Butler Chamber Contest may pick up a free pumpkin at the Autumn Acres Pumpkin Patch.

on Saturday, October 26th starting at 10 am. Judging will be

held Halloween night during the Butler Trunk or Treat on the Butler

Square. Have your pumpkins turned in by 5:00 pm at the Gazebo on the

Butler Courthouse lawn for judging. Prizes will be awarded for first,

second and third place. Have fun and be creative with your pumpkin

carving!

Fall workshops to discuss establishment, management, and cattle grazing benefits of warm season grasses

Stockton, Mo.-“Warm season grasses provide high quality summer forage for cattle grazing and allow rest time for lower quality cools season pastures,” says Patrick Davis, MU Extension Regional Livestock Field Specialist.  Ideal planting time for native warm season grasses is winter and spring.  Therefore, MU Extension will provide Warm Season Grass Cattle Grazing Workshops during November to educate cattle producers interested in knowledge on establishment, management and cattle grazing benefits of warm season grasses.

Locations and times for these workshops will be:

  • November 8th, Kneeland Center, 209 A South Main, Liberal, Mo. at 1:00 p. m.
  • November 19th, Bates County NRCS/SWCD Office, 625 West Nursery Box B, Butler, Mo.at 6:00 p. m. 

MU Extension Agronomy and Livestock Field Specialists will give similar presentations at each locations.  Presentation topics will include:

  • Warm Season Grass Development and Management
  • Cattle Nutrition and Grazing Management on Warm Season Grasses

Ultimate Horsemans Challange Association 2-Day Event, Bates County Fairgrounds, October 12th and 13th

The Ultimate Horseman’s Challenge Association is hosting a 2 day event at the Bates County Fairgrounds, Saturday and Sunday, October 12th and 13th starting at 8:30 am each day.  They will have two great courses and outstanding competitors.  The public is welcome to attend and there is no cost for admission.  Concessions will be available for purchase.  For more information, call Scott Simms at 660-679-1833.  UHCA 2 day event October 12th and 13th, Bates County Fairgrounds.

Race Fans: Lucas Oil changes the date of this week-ends Race!

The Lucas Oil race for October 11th and 12th have been adjusted due to

 inclement weather this week-end. The races are now scheduled

 for Saturday and Sunday- October 12th and 13th. Gates open on

Saturday and Sunday at 1 pm, with hot laps at 3:30 and racing at 4:05.

Spread the word to race fans that the dates have been adjusted for this week-end races at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland.
