The 2019/2020 basketball season is underway and the JV/V Butler Lady Bears and Butler Bears basketball teams will travel to Sherwood on December 10th where they will take on the Sherwood Marksmen. Games start at 6 pm.
FM-92 will also travel to Sherwood to broadcast the Varsity Boys game live on FM-92.1 for those unable to make it to the game. We will also stream the live broadcast on 921news.com, just click on the listen live icon.

The Missouri Department of Agriculture is offering 30 high school students representing
4-H clubs and FFA chapters, as well as farm families, throughout Missouri the opportunity to explore careers in agriculture through the 2020 Missouri Agribusiness Academy (MAbA). MAbA is a competitive program for sophomores interested in pursuing agriculture-related college degrees and careers.
“The Missouri Agribusiness Academy is a premiere opportunity for students interested in agriculture,” said Director of Agriculture Chris Chinn. “Each year, we see the students grow through their MAbA experience, learning more about how an agriculture career may fit them while making lifelong friends. We’ve reimagined the MAbA experience over the last year, adding more development opportunities for students in agriculture policy, communications, leadership and service. I encourage all eligible 4-H and FFA students to apply this year.”
The students selected will have a year-long opportunity to learn about the unique opportunities for careers in the Kansas City area, volunteer at the Missouri State Fair and learn more about the agriculture industry in Jefferson City. The 2020 schedule will be finalized in the spring and include visits with industry and agribusiness leaders, as well as tours of their facilities.

Pay Rates Increased in Missouri for 2020 Census Jobs:

MISSOURI – The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting for thousands of workers for temporary jobs available in communities across Missouri in advance of the 2020 Census.
The 2020 Census Jobs website is now accepting applications: 2020Census.gov/jobs.
Pay rates in Missouri have increased, with a range from $17.00 to $23.50 per hour. Pay rates vary by position and location.
Applicants will be placed in an applicant pool for 2020 Census positions in which they qualify for as jobs become available in their area.
The Census Bureau needs to hire about 500,000 census takers across the country in 2020. In order to meet this goal, the Census Bureau is recruiting now. Census takers count people that do not respond to the 2020 Census online, by phone or by mail.
Census taker positions provide an opportunity for people to earn extra income while helping their community. The results of the 2020 Census will determine each state’s representation in Congress, as well as how public funds are spent for schools, hospitals, roads and more. The positions offer flexible hours, so even someone with a full-time job can work as a census taker. These jobs are expected to last about six to eight weeks.
The Census Bureau also has current temporary positions for recruiting assistants and office positions.

Sandra McCarthy is recognized as the Bates County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month for December 2019. Sandra began her employment in September 2015 as a housekeeper in the Housekeeping Department. Sandra works during the day shift and does an excellent job cleaning some of our most difficult areas.
