90TH Annual Archie Tournament Teams 2020

The 90th Annual Archie Tournament will be held on January 27th  through February 1st 2020. The teams involved in Basketball action will be:

Archie Whirwinds

Adrian Blackhawks

Butler Bears

Rich Hill Tigers

Drexel Bobcats

Midway Vikings

Hume Hornets

And the Warsaw  Wildcats

Teams will take to the court from the Archie Dome . Games will start at approximately 4:30 .

Bates County Route B CLOSED East of Rich Hill

On Tuesday, Jan. 7, for Drain Pipe Replacement Project

What: Bates County Route B CLOSED east of Rich Hill to allow MoDOT crews to replace a deteriorating drain pipe underneath the road

When: 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7

Where: Route B approximately two miles east of Rich Hill

Traffic Impacts:

  • Bates County Route B CLOSED only where crews are set up working
  • Drivers will be able to get to driveways and entrances on either side of the work zone, but will not be able to travel through the work zone
  • Drivers urged to find alternate routes. No signed detours are planned.
  • Electronic message boards located near the planned road work will alert drivers to any changes in the work schedule

Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day is this Thursday January 9, 2020. The Nevada Police Department’s Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) will be hosting a local recognition event at the Nevada Police Department from Noon to 6pm.

Meet officers, detectives and Police personnel as well as sharing a snack. Get a blue ribbon to fly on your car antenna, mailbox, motorcycle, dog collar or anywhere else. Complete a bike registration and also dispose out of date prescription medications.

The Nevada Police Department is located at 120 South Ash Street in Nevada, MO.

Bates County Sheriff’s Theft Report

On December 31, 2019 a Bates County Sheriff’s Deputy took a report of a theft. The victim stated that within the last two weeks he has had 25 to 27 round bales of hay stolen from a property located on County Road 13004 where he had the hay stored.

The victim gave the Deputy a name of a person he believed to have stolen the hay. This person had a similar number of bales show up on his property. When the person was questioned, he stated that he had bought the hay off of the internet. The investigation is currently pending on this case.
