Butler: Southwest Pig Farm Open House February 19th

Pipestone System is proud to open a new pig farm in Bates County. This is a state of art Breed to Wean farm which means piglets are born on location and live with their moms until they are weaned.

Be their guest for a personal tour of Southwest Pork before the pigs move in.

Visitors of the open house will be able to view all aspects of a modern sow farm. A pork lunch and beverages will be provided.

The Southwest Pork open house will be Wednesday, February 19th from 11 until 2 pm. This will also be an opportunity to participate in the Pipestone Career Fair on-site, where walk-in interviews will be also be accepted between 11 and 2.

The facility is located 6 miles east of butler. Head east on Mill Street from Butler. Travel 6 miles then turn north on County Road VV approximately 2 miles. Turn East on North-East County Road 5004 go 1.5 miles to the top of the hill.

Pipestone ( Southwest Pork Farm) is also available for walk-in interviews from 2-6pm on Tuesday, February 18th at the Jackwagon BBQ on the Southside of the Butler Square.

Missouri State Highway Patrol: Adrian Fatality

A one-vehicle rollover accident took the life of an Adrian Resident on February 9th around 7:45 pm.

The accident occurred on CR 1002 just east of Route V in rural Bates County.

18-year-old Carson L. Elmer of Adrian traveled off the roadway and through a fence, the vehicle then struck a tree and overturned on its top in a water-filled creek.

Carson l Elmer was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and was released to Bates County Coroner Greg Mullinax.

There will be a candlelight Prayer Vigil tonight at 5 pm at the Methodist Church in Adrian as you grieve the death of Carson Elmer. 

Carson passed away last night in an accident. Our prayers are with Mark and Melinda Elmer and their family.

Cass County Pursuit Follow-Up

The driver of the vehicle involved in the pursuit, Quasheena L. Cadenhead, 23, Kansas City, has been released from an area hospital this morning and is currently in custody at the Cass County Jail.

Cass Co – Around 4:00 am a Cass County Deputy attempted to stop a black 2014 Volkswagen for speeding on I-49 south of Peculiar.  When the deputy activated his emergency lights and siren, the driver accelerated and continued driving at speeds over 100 mph.

Additional deputies near Harrisonville joined the pursuit as the driver continued south through Harrisonville.  The driver exited Interstate 49 at 7 Highway and then north on Brookhart Drive into the truck fueling area of Love’s Truck Stop.  The driver then drove out of the parking lot and down the embankment onto the exit ramp to Interstate 49 north of S. Commercial Street. 

The driver began driving north in the southbound lanes of I-49.  As the driver exited the wrong way at the 291 Highway ramp the vehicle turned sideways and began to reverse.  A pursuing deputy struck  the suspect’s vehicle as it backed across the ramp preventing it from moving.

The driver, identified as Quasheena L. Cadenhead, 23, Kansas City, was transported to a local hospital and admitted for observation of her injuries.

A deputy involved was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Cadenhead was charged today in Cass County with Resisting Arrest by Fleeing, E Felony, bond $7500.00 cash only. Cadenhead is also being held for 23 active warrants from Kansas City Police Department and a Failure to Appear Traffic warrant in Lee’s Summit.
