2 in Custody After Shooting in Harrisonville

On August 12, 2020 at 855 am, Harrisonville Police Officer along with Harrisonville Emergency Services were dispatched to the 3100 block of Matt Street for a report of shot being fired.

When Officers arrived on scene, 4 individuals were detained without further incident. One of the subjects taken into custody was found to have suffered a single gun shot injury to his foot. He was transported by Harrisonville Emergency Services to a Kansas City, MO area hospital for treatment.

As the investigation continued, two of the subjects detained were released. One subject was transported from the scene to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office Jail and placed on a hold pending further investigation. The subject transported to the hospital was treated and released. He was taken into custody and transported to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office Jail and placed on a hold.

The case was presented to the Cass County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Charges were filed against Bradley Pennington, 31-year-old, male from Harrisonville. Bradley was charged with two counts of Domestic Assault – 3rd degree, one count of Assault 4th degree and one count of Property Damage 2nd degree. Bradley currently has a bond of $10,000.00 cash only for the charges.

The second subject taken to jail was released with no charges. This investigation is ongoing.

Update: House Fire in Clinton Claims the Life of Resident

We have been notified by the family of the victim in Saturday morning’s structure fire in Clinton at 1603 North Water Street, Lot #67 that the victim, Mr. Michael Sites, has passed away. Mr. Sites passed Thursday afternoon, surrounded by his family.

Clinton fire crews were notified of a possible occupant still in the home upon their arrival to the fire early Saturday morning, August 8th. A search and rescue team entered the home immediately in zero visibility conditions and located Mr. Sites in the home, unconscious. The rescue team immediately removed Mr. Sites from the home.

Upon removal, Mr. Sites was unresponsive, however he was breathing and had a pulse. Fire Department EMT’s and GVMH Ambulance crew members tended to Mr. Sites’ immediate life threats and EMS crew members immediately transferred him to an urgent care facility in Kansas City with severe burns to a majority of his body.
