Bates County Memorial Hospital September Employee of the Month

SEPTEMBER EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
Beth Kirkwood-Berger is recognized as the Bates County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month for September, 2020. Beth began her employment in November, 2015. Beth is a clinic scheduler for the hospital’s Family Care Clinics where she schedules patients to see our providers at one of four Family Care Clinics. Beth has assisted in setting up the telehealth and Zoom appointments during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has worked through a stressful and difficult time when many changes had to be made to care for our patients in a safe environment. Beth is appreciated for her hard work and support.

Nicole Galloway, Democrat candidate for Governor was key speaker at a Bates County Democrat rally on Monday evening, October 12 on the Courthouse lawn. Other speakers included Rich Finneran, candidate for Attorney General, Raymond Kinney, candidate for State Senator, Jim Hogan, candidate for State Representative, Jim Platt, candidate for Collector/Treasurer, Brenda Doody, candidate for Public Administrator, Larry Hacker, candidate for Southern Commissioner, and Alvin Griffin, candidate for Northern Commissioner.

Social Security and SSI Benefit Increase

 WASHINGTON (WJW) – Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits will increase 1.3 percent in 2021, the Social Security Administration announced Tuesday.

The average retiree will get a $20 increase per month.

The 1.3 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) will begin with benefits payable to more than 64 million Social Security beneficiaries in January 2021. 

Increased payments to more than 8 million SSI beneficiaries will begin on December 31, 2020.
