On Wednesday, July 14th at 11:38 am, residents in Henry and Cass counties heard a loud boom sound and felt some weak to moderate shaking. This has been said to be an unconfirmed 3.8 magnitude earthquake. There are no reports of damages or injuries at this time.

In 2021, the Sales Tax Holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 6, and runs through Sunday, August 8.
The Butler Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Glow Splash Bash on Friday, August 6th from 7-9 pm at the Butler Aquatic Center. The cost is $2 per person and includes a free glow stick. St Matthew Lutheran church will pay the fee for the first 100 swimmers that arrive.
