El Dorado Springs pursuit enters Vernon County, suspect located by K9 team

A wanted subject is in custody after a vehicle pursuit by the El Dorado Springs Police Department ended in rural Vernon County early Monday morning. According to Sheriff’s Office Officials, the wanted subject was identified as 24-year-old Jessie Miller of Independence, Mo.

Chief Schiereck, of the El Dorado Springs Police Department said that while an officer was conducting a routine welfare check, the suspect fled the scene, causing minor injuries to one of his officers.

The pursuit entered into Vernon County, where Deputies responded for assistance. Deputies located the vehicle in a field to the South of 54 highway and 2100 road and deployed its K9 Unit.

Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher said Miller was located by the K9 and taken into custody without incident.

Miller is being held in the Vernon County Jail for outstanding warrants for Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Possession of Controlled Substance, and Resisting Arrest on $10,000 bond.

Additional charges are pending with the completion of the investigation.

8 Active Cases of Covid-19 in the Clinton School District

The Clinton School District has received confirmation of 2 positive cases of COVID-19 at Clinton High School. This brings the total number of active cases to 8.

The Henry County Health Center is in the process of conducting contact tracing, most of which is complete.

The Clinton School District has been in constant communication, and cooperating fully, with the Henry County Health Center as they perform the necessary contact tracing and Clinton School will continue to follow their guidance.

The Henry County Health Center is responsible for contacting students/staff who need to quarantine due to close contact with the individual who tested positive. If you are not contacted by the Henry County Health Center or the Clinton school district instructing your child to quarantine, your child can continue to attend school.

The Clinton School District is following cleaning and disinfecting procedures so that schools can remain open.

Clinton School District students, staff, and community members should continue to use the Daily Self-Screening Checklist and should stay home if displaying symptoms of COVID-19.

Studio M Celebrating their 6th Anniversary

Vendor are need for this even.  Booth fee for vendor this year is $30.00, this fee is nonrefundable, unless event is cancelled. You may pick up vendor forms at Studio M located at 1013 North Orange Street in Butler.

Studio M will not double book brand reps, unless it’s a hand-crafted item.

Five small vendors will be inside the building, everyone else will be outside.

Hunter Education Skill Session in Drexel

The Drexel VFW Post 4347 will host a Hunter Education Skill Session on Saturday, October 2nd from 8am to noon. This class is part two in you receiving your hunter’s education certification.  You must complete part one first you can do this online by visiting www.mdc.mo.gov/hunting-trapping/hunter-education. Or by getting a book and complete the chapter questions. You must bring the book with the completed chapter questions or a Qualifier certification to this class.

This Missouri Department of Conservation Hunter Education Skills Session will be limited to 30 students. The instructor for this class will be Dennis Desmond.  Participants 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
