Butler Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade

The Butler Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade is set for Saturday, December 4th. The parade theme is “ A King is Born”. The parade will line up at the Bates County Fairgrounds, due to the construction at the Butler High School.

Organizations, individuals, businesses and churches are invited to prepare a float for the parade. There will be a 1st place only $50.00 cash prize money and a Grand Champion Trophy that stays with the winner for one year.

The 2021 Parade Marshals will be Chad Anderson, Jerrett Wheatley and Jason Bennet.

A soup supper will be served from the Butler Chamber of Commerce Office on the East side of the Butler square, prior to the parade. A free-will offering will be appreciated for your choice of a 12-ounce cup of soup and crackers. Select from Chicken vegetable soup, potato soup, chili, or cheeseburger soup

The parade will leave the fairgrounds around 5:30, to arrive on the square by approximately 6 pm. Santa will be the main attraction and will be accepting visitors in his house on the courthouse lawn following the parade.

Bundle up, grab the kids and head to the 2021 Butler Christmas Parade, Saturday, December 4th at 6 pm.

Bates County Personal Property Taxes

A reminder for those of you that haven’t paid your Personal Property Taxes, the deadline is quickly approaching. There are a few changes this year. A few reminders for those still needing to pay. The deadline to pay Personal Property Taxes in person will be December 30th at 4:30 pm. Those paying by mail face a December 31st postmark.

According to https://exprealty.com/us/ia/ankeny/houses/, personal Property Taxes should be paid to the Administrative Office on the southwest corner of the Butler Square. There is an outside drop box on the east side of the Administrative building. The Bates County Collector’s Office will be closed on Friday, December 31st.

For those mailing last-minute taxes, on December 31st. Remember,  the post office postmarks anything dropped in the outside mailbox after 2 m on December 31st with a January 1st , 2021 postmark date.

If you are mailing your Bates County Personal Property Taxes at the last minute, you will need to go inside the Post Office to make sure the Post Master adjusts the stamp to reflect the December 31st postmark date.

Any mail from the outside mailbox at the post office after 2 pm will have a postmark date of January 1st and those late payments will be subject to fines.

The deadline to avoid penalties is Friday, December 31st. Payments must be made at the Administrative building on the Southwest Corner of the Butler Square. The deadline to mail in person is set for Thursday, December 30th.

Butler Holiday Home Decorating Contest

Butler Parks and Recreation will host the annual Holiday Home Decorating Contest for 2021.

All residents of the City of Butler that use city electric are invited to enter. All Holiday Home display entered must use a minimum of 500 lights to quality for the contest. 

You must register your holiday home display by either picking up and dropping off your entry form at the Butler City Hall drop box or by mailing you entry form to Holiday Decoration Contest at P.O. Box 420 in Butler Missouri. All entries must be received by 5pm on Tuesday, December 14th.  

Butler parks and recreation will award three winners. First place will receive $100.00 off their electric bill, second place will receive $75.00 off their electric bill and third place will receive $50.00 off their electric bill. Plus, all qualified entries in the Butler Home Decorating Contest will get $10.00 off their electric bills. You will see these deductions on your billing period of Dec 15th thru Jan 15th bills.

Judging for the Butler Parks and Recreation Home decorating contest will be held on Saturday, December 18th.

Swap Shop Abuse!

Here we go again! The Swap Shop phone lines are being abused. 92.1 has contacted the Butler Police and filed a report.

92.1 contacted Century Link Phone Company and the incoming phone calls will be monitored and recorded.

The person abusing Swap Shop will have charges filed against them in a court of law.
