Fatality Accident in Vernon County

Missouri Highway Patrol responded to a fatality accident on Sunday, March 20th on I49 14 miles North of Nevada in Vernon County.

The accident occurred as a 1999 Harley Davidson travelled off the left side of the roadway and struck a guardrail and ejected the driver, Charles Tschudi, 69 of Adrian Missouri.

Mr. Tschudi was transported by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

The Harley Davidson motorcycle was towed from the scene by a friend of the family.

This is Missouri Highway Patrol’s Troop D’s 16th Fatality crash for 2022.

St. Clair Sheriff’s Deputy involved in Car Accident

On Wednesday March, 16, 2022, a St Clair County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in a two vehicle accident in Lowry City.The accident occurred when the deputy, traveling west, failed to yield to a stop sign when crossing the southbound lane of Highway 13 and was struck by a southbound tractor trailer.

The deputy was transported to Golden Valley Hospital by ambulance. The deputy was treated and released with minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. The truck driver was not injured.

Sheriff Hilty said, “This will prompt additional drivers training for our agency and the deputy will be disciplined according to our policies. We are fortunate no one was seriously injured. I would like to thank the citizens for the many calls and messages with concern and prayers for the deputie’s well being.

We learn from our mistakes, which will, in the end, make us better at serving our communities while being transparent with the citizens we serve.”

Body Found in Vernon County

On 3-16-2022, the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a body being located in a field southeast of Nevada, MO. Vernon County Sheriff’s Office responded and Sheriff Mosher requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol DDCC to conduct the death investigation.

Further information will be released as the investigation unfolds.

Update: The identity of the person found cannot be identified pending notifications and the conclusion of the investigation but we do not believe the person was from the Vernon County area.

Dadeville Man Arrested in Bates County

The Missouri Highway Patrol made a traffic stop in Bates County on Saturday, March 19th at around 11:22am. During this traffic stop Dalton T. Hargis, 30 of Dadeville Missouri, was arrested for a Felony Dade County Sheriff’s Office warrant. Hargis was booked into the Bates County Jail and is currently listed as bondable.
