Adrian Optimist July 4th Celebration

The Adrian Optimist Club will host their annual 4th of July celebration on Saturday, July 2nd.

The Adrian Optimist annual 4th of July Parade will be Main Street in Adrian at 10am.  Participants of the parade need to be lined up by 9:30am on the west side of the railroad tracks.

The Adrian Optimist will serve a mid-day meal at the Adrian City Park.  Other activities that will be at the park include sand volleyball, cornhole games, inflatables, and games for the kids.

The Adrian Optimist will have cosmic Bingo at the Adrian Optimist Club beginning at 7pm with doors opening at 5pm.

The Annual Adrian Optimist 4th of July celebration will wrap up with giant fireworks display over the Adrian Lake beginning at dusk.

All events for The Adrian Optimist 4th of July celebrations will be held on Saturday, July 2nd in Adrian.

Bates County Stampede Coming to the Bates County Fair Grounds

Rodeo Gold Productions will bring a new event to the Bates County Fair grounds this year, the Bates County Stampede.

The Bates County Stampede is a MRCA/URA rodeo event.  Button busting will begin at 6:30pm on Saturday, July 9th. The Saddle Bronc, bareback, bulls, team and calf roping, steer wrestling and barrel racing begins at 7:30pm.

Admission to the Bates County Stampede is $10.00 for adults and kids 10 and under are free.

Bates County Stampede will be at the Bates County Fair grounds located at 1044 E. Nursery Street in Butler.

Fatality Accident in Cass County

A Fatality crash in Cass County claimed the life of Derek Scott 26 of Strasburg Missouri.

The Missouri Highway Patrol with the assistance of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-vehicle accident on Saturday, June 11th at South Shimel Road, North of E 187th Street in Cass County.

The accident occurred when a 2019 Polaris UTV driven by, Derek Scott 26 of Strasburg Missouri, had a flat rear tire, traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and ejected the driver, who then struck a utility pole.

Mr. Scott was transported by Pleasant Hill Fire and EMS to Lee’s Summit Medical Center, where he later passed away.

The UTV was towed from the scene by Ron’s Tow.

Moss House Raffle

Moss House is having their 7th year raffle and they are again raffling two prizes and there will be two winners. The first winner will have choice between the two prizes.

The prizes for the Moss House raffle for this year are a New 2021 Massimo UTV and a utility trailer or $5,000 Cash. The second winner will receive the remaining prize. Tickets will be $20.00 each or 6 for $100.

The Drawing for the Moss House raffle will be August 30th and winners need not be present to win. Proceeds will support Moss House, a domestic and sexual violence shelter.
