Possible Shots Fired-Bates County

On Saturday, July 9th Bates County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to a disturbance with possible shots fired at 6754 NW County Road 4002, Butler Mo. On arrival deputies observed a male and female at the residence. The female appeared to have injuries to her foot and an ambulance was called to the scene. Deputies interviewed the female and asked if the male had shot her and she stated no. The female was subsequently transported by EMS to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

The male was detained and Detectives were called to the scene. The male stated that they had a fire and he threw multiple bullets in the fire. He stated he was inside cooking when he heard what he thought was an aerosol can exploding from the fire. He stated he ran outside and found her laying on the ground stating she got hit.

During the investigation Bates CountyDetectives spoke with hospital staff and was advised that the injuries were only flesh wounds and did not appear to be gunshot in nature.

The male subject was interviewed and released at the scene.

Pool Pal Donations for the Butler Aquatic Center

The Immanuel Baptist Church of Butler is organizing a fundraising event for the children of Butler. The church will be sponsoring approximately 25 children for a 1-day pass on Monda,y July 18th , and 25 children on Tuesday, July 19th. Donations, in any amount, will help defray the cost of admission to the Butler Aquatic Center.  Admission to the Butler Pool is $6.00 per day. 

We thank you in advance for your donations, as temps reach triple digits over the next few days, The  Immanuel Baptist Church of Butler hopes, with the help of the community, to have the funds to pay for many children to use the Butler Pool, over the remainder of the summer.  

If you would like to help send kids to the pool for the remainder of the season, your donations may be dropped off at the Butler Aquatic Center, hours are noon until 6 pm daily. The Butler Aquatic Center will close on August the 12th.

Bates County Route B/Drainage Ditch Bridge CLOSED for Repair July 13

Where: Bates County Route B/Bates County Drainage Ditch bridge east of Rich Hill

When: 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Wednesday, July 13

What: Bridge CLOSED to allow MoDOT crews to repair bridge deck/driving surface

Traffic Impacts:

  • All Route B lanes CLOSED over Bates County Drainage Ditch where crews are working
  • Drivers will have access to driveways at either end of the work zone, but will not be able to travel through the work zone
  • No signed detour
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers to the work zone
  • Drivers should find alternate route
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.
