Butler Youth Center Re-Opens after two years. They need Personal Hygiene donations for the children.

The Butler Youth Center will re-open on September 13th  after being closed for the past two years. The center is under the direction of Kelly Rugg Stark and volunteers. The Butler Youth Center will be located inside the Butler High School Alternative Building.

The Youth Center will open on September 13th and will be available for after-school activities for children ages Kindergarten and up. The center is blessed with at least 4-5 adult volunteers, as well as employing
“ graduates” of the Youth Center to assist with the daily needs of the children.  

The Butler Youth Center will be open every Tuesday and Thursday, after school until 5:30 pm. The Butler Youth Center also offers personal hygiene products available for those children to take home.

At this time The Carpenter’s Cup is asking for the public to help replenish the personal hygiene storage cabinet. Items needed are:

Deodorant, shampoo, hair conditioner, body wash, hairbrushes and combs, toothbrushes and toothpaste, body lotion and feminine hygiene products”. Donations may be left on the park bench outside the Butler Alternative School, located behind the Butler High School, access to this location is from High Street.   The children in our community thank you in advance.

Verbal Threats made at Osceola School

On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at 0745 hours, the St Clair County Sheriff’s Office was advised by Osceola School of a verbal threat.

Deputies were on-site at the time of notification and remained on site throughout the course of the day. At 0833 hours an eighteen year old suspect was in custody for the verbal threats. The suspect, who was not a student, was questioned and arrested on a 24 hour hold.

The case was submitted to St Clair County Prosecutor, Daniel Dysart, for consideration of charges.

Approximately 1430 hours the Sheriff’s Office received a warrant from the St Clair Associate Court for 2nd Degree Terroristic Threats with a bond set at $10,000 cash or surety.

Sheriff Hilty commends the work of all parties involved and the speed at which this situation was addressed. As a result of the school officials quick actions, the situation caused only minor disruption in daily activities.

The Annual Labor Day Picnic at Immaculate Conception Parish (606 Kansas Ave., Montrose) will be held on Monday, September 5. They will offer family-style dine-in meal in the school basement, along with an outdoor dining and carry out tent.  Come join them for a tasty fried chicken dinner served from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. The menu includes fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, dressing, green beans, slaw, bread & butter pickles, homemade pie and drink. All this is only $15 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under. Children under 5 eat free. The huge country store is open from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. There will also be cakewalk, dunk tank and bingo open at 11:00 a.m. Corn hole starts at 10:30. A homemade pie auction will begin at 3:30 p.m., followed by the cash and quilt raffles.

Come worship with River of Life Fellowship on Sunday, September 4, as they welcome Steve Reed, pastor and director of The Brook at Bethpage.  They will have regular morning worship at 10:15 a.m., followed by a fellowship dinner, and then a special evening service at 6:00 p.m. with snacks following.  They will take a love offering for Brother Reed at both meetings, as he shares God’s heart with God’s people.  All are welcome to come to either or both services, at River of Life Fellowship, at the corner of 2nd and Vernon Streets in Rockville.

AC PTO is collecting Food Fair receipts and Best Choice UPC labels September 9.  Food Fair receipts need to be from May 1 – August 31, 2022.  If they are older, they cannot be submitted.  Please send them with students or place them in a plastic bag or envelope and drop them off in the Elementary School Office, St. Clair County State Bank with Janet Payton or Little Apples Learning Center by Friday, September 9. This on-going fundraiser raises a substantial amount of money for PTO to use for the children’s classroom trips and teacher requests for supplies. 

AC PTO will meet in the school cafeteria 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 14.  Parents and anyone interested in the AC Schools and its students are encouraged to attend this meeting.

September 3-5 will be the last weekend of the season for the AC Pool.

The AC Fall City Wide Garage Sale dates will be September 23 and 24. Details will be posted at a later date.

The Knights of Columbus will have their monthly pancake and sausage breakfast at the Knight’s Hall in Montrose on Sunday, September 11 from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m.  Treat your family to a hot breakfast you don’t have to cook or clean up.  A free will donation will be greatly appreciated

AC Second Saturday will be September 10 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. There have been comments from somebody claiming to be accepting vendor forms for Second Saturdays.
