The annual fall City Wide Garage Sale date is set for Saturday, September 10^th. Those having a garage sale need to apply for a permit and reserve your location on the City Wide Map.

The Deadline date to be included for the garage sale map in the Shopper will be no later than Aug 31. There will be a $10 fee and registration forms must be completed and received by August 31^st.

Junk in the Trunk will be on the South Side of the square on the inside lane next to the courthouse lawn and $5 will be collected Sept 10th.

Harrisonville will be making some exciting upgrades here at the Community Center, and they want to make sure you are in the know.

These repairs began  on Thursday, August 11.

Over the next few weeks, crews will be replacing the heater for the indoor pool, replacing the sauna and repairing some of the brackets that hold up vents in the pool area.

During this time, the Harrisonville indoor pool area will be closed.

Also during this time, Harrisonville  will allow Community Center members to use the Outdoor Pool during normal pool outdoor pool hours, by scanning their HCC pass.

Until the work is complete, classes and programs that typically take place at the Harrisonville Community Center indoor pool, will be relocated to the lap lanes at the outdoor pool and will be held before the outdoor pool opens for daily swimming.

New morning hours at the outdoor pool (for Community Center members only): Will be

Monday – Friday: 6:30 a.m. to noon

Saturday: 7 a.m. to noon

Sunday: 10 a.m. to noon

The Harrisonville Community Center is  excited for these repairs to be completed and to welcome back members and guests to an improved facility!

The Amsterdam Jubilee princess candidate is Liberty Dawn Adell McMahan.

Liberty is the daughter of Joseph and Felicia McMahan. She is the granddaughter of Terry Love and Misty Gilmore/Vann and Rachel Hemmingway and Kenny McMahan.

Liberty will attend Sherwood elementary this year. Liberty is smart, funny, and full of energy. Liberty likes to spend her free time singing, dancing, doing her makeup and playing with her older siblings.

As a princess candidate Liberty will be selling raffle tickets for the Amsterdam Jubilee raffle.

Law Enforcement/Firefighter Appreciation Day will take place on Saturday, Aug. 13, showing appreciation to Law Enforcement, Firefighters, EMTs, and Paramedics with FREE admission to the Fair with appropriate I.D. and $1 admission for their immediate family members.

The Missouri State Fair has a great list of events for Saturday, Aug. 13^th,  including:

• Farm Toy Show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Lowell Mohler Assembly Hall.
• Livestock shows and competitive exhibit contests include mules, beef cattle, sheep, and barrows; Rooster Crowing Preliminaries; and Home Economic Foods Contests.
• The Budweiser Clydesdales with be on display east of the Mathewson Exhibition Center and will parade the grounds at 5:30 p.m.
• The Military Flag Retreat Ceremony, honoring Roy Sims (Marine Corps), sponsored by Capital Materials, Starline Brass, and Retrieving Freedom, will take place at 5:30 p.m. by the flagpole located in front of the Historic Administration Building.
• A full line up of free entertainment is scheduled including Jerry Frasier, Comic Magician at the Kids Stage, sponsored by Your Local McDonald’s, Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, Hedrick’s Racing Pigs Show, sponsored by Jim’s Tire Service, BMX Pros Trick Team, sponsored by AOK RV’s, Mule Kicker Cloggers on the Touchstone Energy Stage, and more!
• In the State Fair Arena, the MRCA Show-Me State Rodeo starts at 7 p.m. Tickets available for purchase online and at the Missouri State Fair Box Office, while supplies last.
• Sam Hunt will perform with Sean Stemaly at 7:30 p.m. at the State Fair Grandstand, presented by CFM Insurance. Tickets are available for purchase online and at the Missouri State Fair Box Office, while supplies last.
