Man Escapes Warsaw Police on Foot

At approximately 11:30 am on Wednesday, August 31st, Warsaw Police Officers attempted to apprehend a subject with an outstanding felony warrant for Burglary.

The subject exited a vehicle and fled on foot. A search was conducted, and the School Resource Officer was contacted due to the proximity to Warsaw North School. The driver of the vehicle was arrested by Warsaw Police, and charges are pending for Hindering Prosecution. The vehicle was towed by Law Enforcement. The subject is not believed to pose a threat to society at this time.

The subject who fled from Warsaw Police Officers on Wednesday, August 31st, is Gary Shafton. He has a no bond felony warrant for Burglary. As many in our community will travel to Warsaw for the Holiday weekend the Warsaw Police ask that you keep an eye out for Shafton and If you see him, please contact Benton County Central Dispatch at (660)438-9555.

Possible Sighting of Escaped Inmate in Cass County

On Wednesday evening, August 31st, acting on a tip, the Pleasant Hill Police Department and the US Marshal Service conducted an investigation into a possible Pleasant Hill sighting of escaped Kansas Inmate, Michael Stroede.

Their investigation was able to determine that the person observed was not Michael Stroede.

Video surveillance of the reported person was located and used to determine that it was not Stroede.

Pleasant Hill Police Department appreciates their community’s willingness to aid law enforcement and report when they see someone or something unusual.

Stroede is 5′10′’, 180 pounds with hazel eyes and a shaved head. He has several tattoos across his upper body and arms.
