Parks Closed Dusk to Dawn
3/6/2023
With the weather starting to get warmer, and next week being the beginning of Daylight Savings Time, we just wanted to remind everyone that the City parks are closed from Dusk to Dawn. When using the parks, please be mindful to pick up your trash and place it in the cans provided. Also, please be respectful of the portable restrooms. They are there for your convenience and use. We have had reported vandalism to them over the years, and that makes it difficult to get them rented and serviced for our community members to use. Thank you for your help.
Bates County Stolen Vehicle
Be on the lookout for stolen truck:
On 03/06/2023 Deputies with the Bates County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a stolen 2012 Ford F250 single cab truck with a long bed. The truck is black in color and has damage to the tailgate. The truck was stolen from the area of County Road 11002 and County Road 2001 in rural Adrian sometime between the hours of midnight and 10:00 AM this morning. At approximately 0445 hours this morning, deputies received a call for a suspicious person walking in the same area. Upon deputies’ arrival, the subject was not located and had apparently already left the area.
On 03/05/2023 deputies took a report of an attempted theft of a vehicle also in the rural Adrian area near County Road 1503 and County Road 11004 at approximately 2330 hours. It is unknown if the two incidents are related and in that case the truck was left in the ditch near the victim’s residence.
Deputies and investigators are working on locating the stolen truck and is seeking information from the public if they saw or heard something in the area. This is also a reminder to not leave your keys in your vehicles unattended and lock your doors.
If you have information regarding the theft of this vehicle please contact a deputy or detective at the Sheriff’s Office (660) 679-3232
Friendly Reminder from CountyWide Disposal
With a new trash service in the surrounding counties, we are still trying to make clear the issues of new rules and regulations. Here are just a few reminders from County Wide Disposal.
Attention City Residents of Butler, Adrian, Freeman, and Archie
As many of you have seen, we are running some of our municipalities with an automated truck. Please help your friendly trash man “Little Spud” by considering the following points when placing your trash at the curb.
Place trash at least 3 feet from mailbox, vehicles, electric pole, fire hydrant, etc.
Do not place trash cans under power lines, phone lines, or overhead branches
Trash cans must be placed near edge of road
Please place all items including cardboard, in the trash can. If you have more than the can will hold, please place extra bags or boxes next to can.
Breaking down cardboard will save space.
Keep your town looking nice by returning the trash can to your garage or side of the house once it’s been emptied
Thanks,
Lee McLain
