Osage Beach Police Officer Killed In Crash During Pursuit

An Osage Beach police officer died Saturday morning following a pursuit. Osage Beach Police Officer Phylicia Carson was killed while attempting to assist in a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling at high speeds on U.S. Highway 54, Osage Beach Police Chief Todd Davis said in a news conference. Carson was a secondary responding officer in the pursuit after the driver did not stop for the original officer. Deputies from the Camden County Sheriff's Office located Carson's vehicle in flames on the side of the road. Thirty-four minutes after the pursuit began, the department was notified that the speeding driver had crashed and was taken into custody. Carson had worked for the department since June 2023, and is survived by her husband and six children. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
