Four Killed In Traffic Accident In Vernon County

VERNON CO., Mo. (KY3) - Four people are dead after a two-vehicle crash in Vernon County Friday night. Six others suffered injuries in the crash.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, this happened around 8 p.m. on U.S. 54 near Nevada, Mo. The patrol reports that a car carrying five people did not stop at a stop sign and was hit by an SUV. The car then hit a tree and a fence off the road.

Three people in the car were killed, including an 18-year-old woman from Springfield, a 19-year-old woman from Climax Springs, and a 21-year-old woman from Camdenton. The driver was taken to the hospital in Joplin with serious injuries. The Missouri Highway Patrol does not release victims’ identities. However, the Climax Springs School District identified three victims: Ava Wolfe, Jayden Butterfield, and Violete Corado. District representatives say Wolfe and Butterfield worked for the district. The three had attended a high school basketball game.

The driver of the SUV was also killed, a 38-year-old man from Osceola. The passengers in the SUV were all taken to the hospital, one with serious injuries.
