Butler Man Accused Of Rape Pleads Not Guilty On Wednesday

 According to a complaint filed by Bates County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Cody L. Johnson, on or about Sunday, April 20, 2025, Rowdy Kane Summerlin 41, of Butler allegedly forced sexual intercourse with a victim who had been intoxicated and incapable of consent.

According to the court docket, an arrest warrant was served to Summerlin on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Summerlin, who is represented by Special Public Defender Stephen Chase Higinbotham Jr. entered a plea of not guilty on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in the Bates County Circuit Court before Judge Julie Highley.

As of Wednesday, Summerlin remained behind bars on a $50,000 bond with a charge of 1st Degree Rape as a motion of discovery has been filed.
