Each year on the second weekend of October Mound City’s population swells from about 1000 people to 10,000 During the Sugar Mount Festival.
The annual festivities have grown over the last 50 years.
The Sugar Mount Festival now has over 400 booths displaying all types of hand-crafted items with exhibitors coming from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nebraska, and Colorado and as far as California to join Kansas exhibitors of crafts and artwork.
This year’s 50th Annual Sugar Mount Festival will be on Saturday, October 9th and Sunday October 10th at the Linn County Fair Grounds located on Highway 7 just North of the Little Sugar Creek in Mound City, KS.
Throughout the weekend, visitors come to shop for craft and artwork as well as to eat the taste tempting foods which are supplied by Linn County food booths.
