Kaylie Chancellor is an All-Conference/All-District catcher who has been a key player for the Lady Blackhawks softball team since her freshman year of high school. This week, with family, friends and teammates/coaches present, Kaylie signed with Avila University to play softball in college, and she accepted a scholarship from Avila to attend the college.
Kaylie announced her excitement by saying, “I am very excited to play at the college level. I know it’ll be way different than what I do now but it’s still exciting to think about. It’s always been a dream of mine.”
It is important to note that there is no way she could have done this one her own. It was her family, friends, teammates, and coaches that helped her along her journey to become a college softball player.
Kaylie has been playing ball since she started playing t-ball at a young age, and as he has grown into a successful and awarded softball player. Throughout her years a Lady Blackhawk she has received the following honors: All-District for freshman and junior years and All-Conference for Junior Year.
It hasn’t all been easy. After a heartbreaking ACL injury, Kaylie was forced to sit out and not play during her sophomore year of high school. However, after working hard and healing from the injury, Kaylie came back for her junior year stronger than ever.
Kaylie has mentioned her father is the most inspirational person she has standing behind her. She quotes, “Man, there are a lot of people that have inspired me, but I would have to say my dad. My dad taught me how to love the game. He worked with me all the time when I was little. He’s been to every game and is always supporting me. He helped me become the player I am today.”
Avila University has a short season in the Fall and then will start again in the Spring of 2019, so stay tuned! Best of luck, Kaylie!
