The Clinton School District is proud to announce it has selected Alex Johnson as Activities Director for Clinton High School starting with the 2021-2022 school year. Prior to his time in Socorro, Johnson was a Social Studies teacher and Physical Education teacher in Central New Mexico and thereafter in the Dallas, Fort Worth Metro Area.

Johnson has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Missouri State University in Springfield, and a Master of Science in Sport Administration and Management from Eastern New Mexico University.

During his time in education, Mr. Johnson has coached football, track, cross country, and basketball, taught Strength and Conditioning and has overseen many fine arts and other extracurricular activities. As Special Teams Coordinator for the Socorro Warrior Football Program, Johnson played a key part in his team’s District Championship and State Runner-Up finish in the New Mexico Activities Association AAA Classification. As Head Boys Varsity Track Coach, Johnson has also led his Warriors to Back-to-Back District Championships while qualifying 20+ athletes for state competition. During his time as Activities Director, the Warrior Athletic Program has experienced levels of success not previously seen in Socorro Athletics. Throughout the interview process it was evident that his strength is in building positive relationships with all stakeholders. Mr. Johnson also has a passion for character development for students and professional development for coaches and sponsors to improve the culture of schools. Johnson wants to build upon these things to help make Clinton activities competitive in the MRVC West Conference.

Dr. Jarrod Steffens, Clinton High School Principal said, “We are excited to have Alex Johnson on board our leadership team for Clinton High School and the Clinton School District. It was evident throughout the interview process that he was a top candidate for a position that requires many hours of dedication and a high level of commitment.”

When my wife and I visited, we felt a very warm welcome by the community and we want to thank Dr. Steffens and Superintendent Brown for welcoming the Johnson family with open arms. I personally look forward to meeting everyone as soon as possible and I am excited to get to work and start building relationships with the students, teachers, staff, and community members. Go Cardinals!”
