On May 23rd around 7:10 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Bates County Sheriff’s Deputies and Butler Fire Department responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Missouri 52 West Highway just east of CR. 1101 in rural Bates County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2000 Ford Explorer driven by 63 year old David W. Dunlap of Amoret, Missouri traveled off the roadway and struck a embankment, overturning and ejecting the driver from the vehicle.
Mr. Dunlap was pronounced dead at 8:34 a.m. by Dr. Anthony Decker at the Bates County Memorial Hospital.
The vehicle was totaled and towed by Don’s Tow. This is the 29th fatality accident for Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol in the year 2021.
