Saturday, September 12th is the monthly Amsterdam 2nd Saturday event. From 7-3 the public is invited to Main Street in Amsterdam to eat, shop, and play the local businesses and vendors. Food, craft, knick-knack, or garage sale vendors, anyone who wants to sell anything is welcome to set up a booth at no charge. From candy corn to steaks, new, used, and upcycled items, antiques, home décor and crafts, you will find a little bit of everything. This event is free to the public and free to those who wish to set up a booth and sell their wares. Local businesses will be open for your shopping and dining pleasure. There will also be a Grand Opening event for the new Farm Market. It all takes place on Main Street. The Amsterdam 2nd Saturday event this Saturday, September 12th.

Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton.
In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
