ACHS Homecoming Parade is Friday, September 30. Line up at 2:00 and the parade begins at 2:30. Please contact the HS Office at (660)476-2118 if you have any questions or would like to participate in the parade. This year’s theme is “Surfing Our Way To Victory”. The game will be against Osceola at 7:00 p.m. The dance will follow the game.
Big trash pickup is September 27-29 at the AC City Barn. This is a service that Countywide Disposal partners with the City to provide twice per year for their water/trash service customers.
The Appleton City Manor and Countryside Estates will be serving free sack lunches to area residents from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. September 30, 2022. Sacks will contain a choice cheese hamburger or hot dog, chips, snack cake, chocolate candy and lemonade to drink.
“Holy Grounds” Bible Study will resume 9:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, at FIKA Coffee Shop. Come grab your favorite and join them. It is very casual and everyone is welcome.
The Book Group will meet 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 3 at the Trinity UMC fellowship hall. They will decide what their October read will be, which will be discussed when they meet 6:00 p.m. Monday, November 7. Everyone is welcome.
Appleton City First Christian Youth Group invites all students in grades 6th-12th to a hayride, bible lesson and supper 5:30-7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 9. Meet at the Church and bring a friend! Parents will be asked to sign a guardian release form for participation.
The Knights of Columbus will have their monthly pancake and sausage breakfast at the Knight’s Hall in Montrose on Sunday, October 9 from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Treat your family to a hot breakfast you don’t have to cook or clean up. A free will donation will be greatly appreciated
The Appleton City Public Library is conducting their Friends of the Best Sellers Program until October 15, 2022. The program’s purpose is to fund the purchase of new hardback books for the library. You can become a friend by either choosing a book from the list or requesting another book you’ve wanted to read and then donating $20.00 for said book. The perks of being a Friend to the Library are that you will be the first person to check the book out, you’ll have the opportunity to read other books purchased by Friends first, and you will be honored by having your name placed on a special nameplate in the front of each of the Library Friend books.
Starting October 1, 2022, the Library’s hours are changing. They will now be open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. With no school on Mondays, they hope to be more accessible to the kids as well as the adults that are used to it being open on Tuesdays.
Girl’s Day Out is scheduled for Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please come join the staff of Ellett Memorial Hospital for their 5th Annual Breast Cancer Wellness & Awareness Day. You can receive your pre-registered annual mammogram by Diagnostic Imaging Center Mobile Coach, Pre-register at 913-344-9989. Walk-ins will be worked in as time allows. Win door prizes, gather information, visit local vendors, support others and recognize survivors. There will be Breast Cancer speakers sharing their life stories and talking about genetics and facts of Breast Cancer. A light lunch will be served and treats to indulge! A fish fry benefit fundraiser will be held 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. October 7 at the Fair Haven Park near Harwood, MO. The menu includes fried fish and hush puppies, baked beans, cole slaw and homemade bread and butter. Freshly cranked ice cream and homemade pies (baked by the community ladies) will be served for dessert. A freewill donation will benefit Stoney Creek, Walnut Creek and Shady Lawn Schools. Fair Haven Park is located on Hwy C, 8 miles north of Walker, MO
Living Waters Ranch, Osceola, Missouri, will have a free Annual Fall Festival, October 1, 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This family friendly event will feature Zipline, slide, hayride, and other outdoor activities. No outside food or drinks, please. Concessions will be available for purchase.
