The ACHS Alumni Meeting will be Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. with a noon meal/meeting. Anyone is welcome to attend.  The meal will be $20 at the door.  ACHS Class reunion scheduled at this time: May 27 – 11:30 lunch at High School -1953, 1958, 1963, 1972, afterward 1958 will gather at Farmhouse and 1973 at Dennis Ray’s, 1993 -11:30 AC Park building,  2008 – City Lake,  

The Grand Opening weekend of the AC Carousel will be May 26-28 4:00-7:00 p.m.  There will be week-end hours until Labor Day week-end, weather permitting. Read the rules/guidelines posted at the Carousel and the old Yoss grocery store on the corner. Linda Lampkin is the founder.

Half Baked Take and Bakery at 111 E. 4th St. in AC, announces that their new bakery is finished. The Grand Opening is Saturday May 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  They will also be open May 31, June 1- 2.  Regular hours will be 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday starting June 5.  Friday evenings, when the Carousel is open, they will also stay open until 7:00.  The menu includes lunch specials, take and bake items, salads, sandwiches, desserts, and ice cream with lots of toppings to choose from. The owners are Julie and Harry Cooper

Bluebird Lounge, 110 E. 4th St. will be open Saturday 11:00 a.m.-12:00 a.m. with appetizers and live music.  Heather Parks is the owner.

Golden Apples Over 50 Social Club will celebrate Memorial Day 5:00 p.m. at the Park Shelter (or if raining, Park Building) May 25 with a picnic of hamburgers, hot dogs and brats.  If you have memorabilia to share from your military service, please bring it to share. Come dressed in red, white and blue. There is no charge for your meal or bingo, as they are working with grants and donations. For questions, call Rose at 660-492-7610.

Appleton City Rural Health Clinic will offer free sports physicals in the clinic on the following dates: Wednesday, June 7, Wednesday, June 14 and Wednesday, June 21.  Physicals are by appointment only from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Call the clinic at 660-476-2121 to make your appointment. 

The Appleton City Museum will be open 10:00-3:30 p.m. May 27 and every Friday 1:30-4:30 through September 29, as well as the first Saturday of each month from 1:30-3:30. If these times are not convenient, an appointment may be made by calling Patty at 660-598-4151 or Susan 660-476-5579. It is time to renew annual memberships to the Appleton City Museum.  The Museum operates solely on donations, memberships, fundraising lunches and interest from an endowment.  Please consider a new membership or renewal at $15 individual, $25 family or $500 lifetime membership.

Summer Reading sign up is here. Every Monday in July, the Appleton City Public Library will hold two summer reading groups. Kids 10 and under will be welcome at 11:00 a.m., while those 10 and up can come at 2:00 p.m. that same day for a little more in-depth learning. Parents and guardians can sign up any time during normal business hours between now and June 20, or call the Library at (660) 476-5513 for more information.

Friday evening, the Kids 5K Run at 7:15 p.m. and Adult 5K Run at 8:00 p.m.  Saturday starts with breakfast 7:30 – 10:00 a.m. at the VFW Hall. Baking contest at the VFW Hall 10:00 a.m. drop off, 11:00 judging. 19th annual car show begins at 9:00 a.m., Bake sale and vendors and crafters in the Community Building at 9:00 a.m. Museum opens at 9:00 a.m. For the kids, Team Sprinkles as well as bounce houses, corn boxes, pony rides, petting zoo, train rides and Ted E. Bear Toy Factory. Baby show at 10:00 a.m. Extreme Video Trailer 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Chicken drop at 10:00 a.m. KC Wolf from  noon to 2:00 p.m. The announcement of this year’s Home Town Hero is at 12:30.  Children’s parade starts at 12:45 p.m. and the grand parade begins at 1:00 p.m. with registration at the Montrose High School 10:00 – 12:30.  Following the parade, will the Kickin Chicken Fried Chicken Dinner 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. a pie and wine auction at 2:00, VFW #8820 beer stand 2:00 p.m. Corn Hole tournament at 3:30 p.m. “Members Only Band”, will entertain 9:00 p.m.-midnight. Sunday, softball starts at noon and the Scavenger Hunt at the VFW Hall 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. There will be beer olympics at 5:00 p.m. next to the museum, along with evening entertainment.

The 19th Annual Appleton City Car Show will be July 8 in the City Park, right off 52 Hwy across the street from Zink Motor Company. Check in 8:00 a.m.-noon.  Car Show noon-3:00 p.m. This is a judged event. There is a $10 entry fee, with proceeds going to two $1000 scholarships for local high school students. Top 70 cars and trucks combined, top 3 motorcycles, and top 3 rat rods.
