The monthly Men’s Fellowship Breakfast at the Appleton City Church of God will be 7:00 a.m. Saturday October 8. All the men of the community are invited to join them for a time of great food and fellowship. Marley McLerran will be giving a short overview of Gideon’s International. Gideon’s International places copies of the Bible or New Testament in hotel rooms, hospitals, correctional institutions, schools and other locations.
The Montrose Fire Department’s 26th annual Taco Supper will be 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8 at St. Mary’s School. There will be something for everyone. The menu includes a complete taco menu, dessert, drinks and a 50/50 raffle. Free will donations will be used to help purchase gear, washer and extractor.
Appleton City First Christian Church Youth Group invites all students in grades 6th-12th to a hayride, bible lesson and supper 5:30-7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 9. Meet at the Church and bring a friend! Parents will be asked to sign a guardian release form for participation.
The Knights of Columbus will have their monthly pancake and sausage breakfast at the Knight’s Hall in Montrose on Sunday, October 9 from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Treat your family to a hot breakfast you don’t have to cook or clean up. A free will donation will be greatly appreciated
St. Clair County Cattlemen Assn. meeting will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the Osceola School District, FFA Building. The speaker will be Ag Butler, a gig economy platform that serves as a solution to a rural labor shortage in America. Osceola FFA will serve the meal.
River of Life in Rockville is hosting The Ingathering October 10-12. Special meetings each night begin at 7:00 p.m. featuring ministers and worship leaders/teams from area churches. Monday evening, Steve Highlander (former pastor at River of Life, current interim pastor at Community Foursquare Church, Ottawa, KS, and missionary to Papua New Guinea) will minister with Tina Barnett (pastor/worship leader at The Barn, Blue Mound, KS) leading worship. Tuesday evening, Shawn & Misty Benson (pastors at Harvest Fellowship, Warrensburg, MO) will minister as Alison Yates (worship leader at Freedom Tabernacle, Osceola, MO) and her worship team leads worship. Wednesday evening, Robert Fox (elder/pastor at Christ’s Church, Nevada, MO) will minister as Matt Harper (elder/pastor/worship leader at Christ’s Church of Nevada, MO) leads worship. They will have a light meal at 6:00 p.m. each evening preceding the meeting, and take a special offering each night to bless both ministries and churches. All are welcome to attend, as they pursue unity in the Body of Christ, and allow space for the ecclesia (church) to be the ecclesia (church). Fellowship, along with dessert and coffees, follow each evening’s meeting. They hope to see you at River of Life, 2nd and Vernon Streets, in Rockville. Parking is available on the north side of the building, on the street east of the building, or in the parking lot to the south of the building.
The Appleton City Masonic Lodge #412 will have a pancake breakfast 6:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sunday, October 16 at the lodge, 219 E. 3rs Street. The all you can eat meal is $8.00. There will also be raffles for cash prizes.

Girl’s Day Out is scheduled for Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please come join the staff of Ellett Memorial Hospital (in Appleton City) for their 5th Annual Breast Cancer Wellness & Awareness Day. You can receive your pre-registered annual mammogram by Diagnostic Imaging Center Mobile Coach, Pre-register at 913-344-9989. Walk-ins will be worked in as time allows. Win door prizes, gather information, visit local vendors, support others and recognize survivors. There will be Breast Cancer speakers sharing their life stories and talking about genetics and facts of Breast Cancer. A light lunch will be served and treats to indulge! Appleton City Landmarks will open the M.K.T. Depot on Saturday December 3, 9:00 to 2:00 for the Christmas in the County Craft show. They have room for 10 crafters to display their handmade items. A fish fry benefit fundraiser will be held 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. October 7 at the Fair Haven Park on Hwy C, 8 miles north of Walker, MO. The menu includes fried fish and hush puppies, baked beans, cole slaw and homemade bread and butter. Freshly cranked ice cream and homemade pies (baked by the community ladies) will be served for dessert. A freewill donation will benefit Stoney Creek, Walnut Creek and Shady Lawn Schools.
