Appleton City Oktoberfest and other events

The Appleton City FFA Chapter will hold their annual Food for America demonstration Friday, October 18 from 8:00-11:00 a.m. in the High School gravel parking lot. Any community member interested in learning about agriculture is welcome to walk through and hopefully learn a few new things about the world of agriculture. 

The monthly Men’s Fellowship Breakfast at the Appleton City Church of God (Holiness) will be 7:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12.  All the men of the community are invited to join for a time of great food and fellowship.  Jim Brack will be doing a short devotional.

On Saturday, October 19, the Valley Center Church will host their annual Oktoberfest. It promises to be a most delicious evening with serving from 3:00-8:00. The menu consists of smoked brats, german potato salad, noodles, bavarian kraut, homemade breads and lot’ of delicious homemade pies! There is also a bazaar where many delicious items will be for sale and musical entertainment from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Adults eat for $10.  Children ages 6-12 eat for $3.00. Their address is 930 NE 1126 RD. Deepwater MO. The church is located 3 miles North of Lowry City or 12 miles South of Clinton off of 13 highway. Bring non-perishable food items and receive $1 off of an adult meal and help support local food pantries.

The WIC office is now available in the PAT building behind the AC School the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month. The days that WIC is there, they also have Amanda, who is with the Missouri Extension Office. She has recipes, great nutrition information and can help with food stamp applications.  Another person that is with them when they are open is Stephanie with Compass Health. She can help with Market Place insurance and Medicaid. She can also temp Medicaid for children and pregnant women. Call them at 417-646-1269.  Please leave a message if there is no answer.
