The 90th Annual Archie Invitational Tournament starts on Monday evening January 27th. In the past, approximately 4 games were played nightly. Changes have been made for the 2020 Tournament bracket.
Games will be split between the Archie Dome and the Archie Gym. This will allow the boys and girls games to be played simultaneously, saving long nights and time. Some games will be played on the same night at the same time but in different locations. Most games are scheduled for 5:30 and 7:00 daily.
This causes havoc for sports announcers as only 1 game may be called at a time. This situation will indeed be a challenge for the live coverage of the games to be aired.
FM 92 will alternate games starting with the Midway Lady Vikings and the Drexel Lady Bobcats game from the Archie Gymnasium at 5:30, this game will be followed by the Butler Lady Bears against the Hume Lady Hornets at 7:00, in the Archie Dome. These are the only 2 games to be broadcast on Monday, January 27th as the other games are scheduled to play at the same time but in a different location.
Local Businesses that will be advertising during the Archie Tournament will be discounted in their original cost, as only 14 games will be scheduled to broadcast live from the studios of FM 92.1.
This is the first year for this type of adjustment for the Archie Tournament and was an unforeseen challenge for sports announcers.
