Ballard May Student of the Month

The Adrian Optimist Club is pleased to honor Students of the Month from the Miami, Ballard, and Adrian schools.  Criteria for this honor center on outstanding academic and civic achievement and school spirit.  Staff at each of the schools make the selection, and their decision is based on expansion of these criteria.   Selection is based on the criteria, but a student stepping up to a particular task will come to play in it.  Each student is honored with a certificate of recognition from the Adrian Optimist Club and $20.00 in Adrian Chamber of Commerce “Chamber Bucks”

The Ballard Student of the month is a sophomore, Aimee Cummings.  She is the daughter of the late Dan Cummings and Yea Cummings.  At school Aimee enjoys being a member of FFA and participating in Trap.  She is also a member of Envirothon and the Scholar Bowl Team.  She is also a team player in basketball and softball.  Outside of school she enjoys playing softball and working at the Bates County Veterinary Clinic.

After graduation she plans to attend the University of Kansas where she plans to major in Cellular and Molecular Biology to pursue a career as a pharmaceutical scientist.  Her inspiration quote is:  “ It be like that sometimes!”  Ballard staff member said Aimee is a true example of friendship and honesty in her day-to-day walk.  One can always trust that she is being honest and kind to those around her.  If she says she will do something, she will follow through and complete the task way beyond expectations.  Although disappointed that Ballard could not field a softball team of their own, she followed through going to another school to have the option to play.  While there, she created new friendships with her teammates.  She was honest with her coaches and team members and showed that they could count on her to be a friend.
