The Adrian Optimist Club is pleased to honor Students of the Month from the Miami, Ballard, and Adrian schools. Criteria for this honor center on outstanding academic and civic achievement and school spirit. Staff at each of the schools make the selection, and their decision is based on expansion of these criteria. Selection is based on the criteria, but a student stepping up to a particular task will come to play in it. Each student is honored with a certificate of recognition from the Adrian Optimist Club and $20.00 in Adrian Chamber of Commerce “Chamber Bucks”
The Student of the Month for April is Tucker Roach, a junior at Ballard High School. Tucker is the son of Rusty and Melody Roach. Tucker enjoys being a member of FFA and participating in Trap. He is also a member of Paw Pride and is a team player in basketball and baseball. Tucker’s activities outside of school include 4-H, hunting and fishing (when time allows.) He enjoys working on the farm and doing his lawn care business. Tucker’s future plans include attending the College of the Ozarks. Tucker’s inspirational statement is: “The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you must endure the storm.”
The Ballard staff said: “Tucker shows integrity in his day- to- day walk. He can always be trusted to be honest.” If he says he will do something he will follow through and complete that task. He is motivated to complete tasks the correct way, even if he does not want to. He, like others in the district, were disappointed when unable to have a baseball team in Ballard. However, in a co-op with Montrose, he along with others were given the opportunity to participate in a sport that was dear to their hearts. To the staff this showed his perseverance.
