The Barton County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce that they will be offering a concealed carry class Saturday, June 20,2020 at 08:00 A.M. This class is a prerequisite for obtaining your concealed carry permit through the State of Kansas. Even though a permit is not required to carry concealed within the state, citizens are strongly encouraged to take the class. Residents of Barton County will be given priority enrollment. The fee for the class is $50 and must be paid in advance. Students will need to furnish their own handgun, hearing and eye protection and at least 50 rounds of ammunition. Enrollment is limited. Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton.
In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
