Bates County Coroner Report

On Monday evening, August 8th Bates County Coroner, Greg Mullinax responded to Cass Regional Medical Center following a traffic accident in Bates County at State Route AA and County Road 6001 just before 3:30PM.

Tony Radford, 42 of Butler, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton. In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
