Larry Beckham Sentenced to 15 years
Sentencing for Larry Beckham was carried out yesterday at the Bates County Courthouse after having been delayed from the original May 18 sentencing date by Covid 19. Sentencing was reset for June 25, 2020, but that date was delayed again after Defense Attorney David Kelly had filed a motion for a new trial, however after the January trial transcript was reviewed, that motion was denied by the Court.
Larry Beckham was convicted in January 2020 of 1st Degree Statutory Sodomy and 1st Degree Child Endangerment. Beckham was charged with these crimes in 2018 after it was revealed that he had been abusing a 13 year old girl for a period of several years.
Pre-sentence arguments were heard and a victim impact statement was read before Judge Brandon Baker imposed a 10 year sentence for Count 1, Statutory Sodomy in the 1 Degree and a 5 year sentence for Count 2, 1st Degree Child Endangerment. Judge Baker ruled these sentences to run consecutively.
Beckham will be transported to the Missouri Department of Corrections by the Bates County Sheriff’s Office in the next few days.
