On 9/18/21 at approximately 830pm Bates County Deputies attempted to make a traffic stop on a motorcycle leaving the Pump and Pete’s gas station in Rich Hill.
The motorcycle failed to pull over and began to increase its speeds. The Bates County Deputies began to pursue the vehicle through Rich Hill on A Highway. The pursuit continued outside of Rich Hill toward Hume.
At Hume the motorcycle continued southbound into Vernon County. At approximately 2 miles north of Richards Missouri the motorcycle struck a deer as the deer was crossing the highway.
The driver and passenger were thrown off the motorcycle and came to rest in the ditch. The female passenger and male driver was taken by ambulance the Nevada Hospital. The female received serious injuries and was later transported by helicopter to another hospital.
The male was treated and released from the Nevada Hospital where he was transported to the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office.
The male identified as David J Neal 10/1389 of Stockton had multiple warrants out of Cedar with No Bonds. The female was later released and taken into custody for multiple warrants out of Cedar County and Transported to Cedar County for Multiple warrants.
During the crash investigations a black container was recovered that had multiple pills, small bags of crystal-like substance, along with needles, glass pipes and a digital scale. The crystal substance tested positive for methamphetamine as did the digital scales.
Charges for this pursuit have been submitted to the Bates County Prosecutors Office.
