BUTLER, Mo. – Bates County Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the return of Dr. James Wirkkula to its medical staff. Dr. Wirkkula will begin seeing patients, primarily at the Adrian Family Care Clinic, in early April 2018.
Dr. John Bustle, CEO at BCMH, began searching for a family medicine physician as soon as he assumed his new position last year. As the hospital’s new CEO, Dr. Bustle gradually trimmed back his clinic hours at the Adrian facility. It has been Dr. Bustle’s priority to fill the vacancy for a family practice physician at that location as soon as possible.
Many local residents know Dr. Wirkkula, who was a member of the BCMH staff beginning in 2010, and saw patients at High Street, Nursery Street, and Adrian Family Care Clinics for several years.
Dr. Wirkkula earned his medical degree from the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996 and completed his internship and residency with the University of Kansas Medical Center in 1999. His specialty is Family Medicine.
In the coming weeks, the hospital will publish the official date to begin scheduling appointments to see Dr. Wirkkula.
