Belton Man Receives Serious Injuries in Bates County Crash

Missouri Highway Patrol responded to a two-car accident on I49 at mile maker 127.8 in Bates County on Monday, March 28th at approximately 4:20pm.

The accident occurred when a 2000 Toyota Sienna, driven by Steven Quarles, 66 of Belton MO. struck the rear of the towed unit on a 2015 Freightliner driven by Herbert Carmichael, 41 of Kosciusko, Mississippi.

The Toyota traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck the ground and overturned. The Freightliner came to a controlled stop on the shoulder. Both vehicles were Northbound on I49.

Mr. Quarles sustained serious injuries but refused treatment at the scene.

The Toyota was towed from the scene by J’s Southland Wrecker and the Freightliner was driven from the scene.
