On 4-20-2021 just after 6 AM, Belton Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Markey Meadows Townhomes on a report of shots fired. Upon their arrival, officers located a residence and a vehicle which had been shot multiple times. Thankfully, no one was injured. Through the cooperation with the public and the use of the Community Video Partnership, officers and investigators were able to identify a suspect. The suspect was taken into custody a short time after the shooting in south Kansas City by the Kansas City Police Department.
The Cass County Prosecutor’s Office charged 32 year old Anthony Simpson of Kansas City, Missouri with shooting at or from a motor vehicle at a person, vehicle or inhabitable structure as well as unlawful possession of a firearm. Mr. Simpson’s bond was set at $25,000 cash only.
This is yet another example of collaboration between the police and the community along with the use of the Community Video Partnership resulting in a serious crime being solved quickly.
