Victim Advocate Full Time Position at Belton Police Department
40 hours a week. (Must be flexible with schedule)
The Belton Police Department Victim Service Unit is searching for a full time victim advocate. This individual should possess an understanding of domestic violence, sexual assault and the effects of how being a victim of a crime can cause turmoil in someone’s life. This person must also have the ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
This position, with the Belton Police Department, will be responsible to assist clients in obtaining orders of protection and explaining the process. They will need to perform daily task of contacting clients, reviewing reports, and data entry. This position will also assist in recruiting and managing part time advocates as well as volunteers. This position will also need to be available for call outs.
All completed applications and supporting documents need to be turned into the police department by 5:00 PM , April 5th, 2021.
Advocates must be over 18 years of age.
Advocates must be able to work during day and evening hours and occasionally be on call. If called out, the advocate will need to be able to respond within 20 minutes.
Advocates must have experience with advocacy. (Preferred advocacy in domestic violence / sexual assault)
Advocates must have some knowledge of grants (how they work and how to write them)
Advocates must have an open non-judgmental attitude toward victims and survivors.
