There will be a benefit Poker Run for Tim “Hillbilly” Silver on Saturday, August 3rd at 10 am. Sign-in starts at 8:30 am. The ride will start at Mama’s Kitchen in Archie and will end at The Fishing Dock. Cost is $20 per bike and $10 per Rider. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the different stops. A 50/50 drawing and an auction will be held at the final destination. Rain date is August 10th. All proceeds will go to the family to help with medical expenses and needs for his daughter. Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton.
In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
