Billy Graham’s Prayer Heard by the Nation directed to our Nation, during a Paul Harvey” The Rest of the Story” Broadcast. Graham Passes Away February 21st at the age of 99

As you know, Evangelist Billy Graham, passed away at the age of 99, at his home in Montreat, North Carolina on Wednesday, February 21st.  Graham was a confidant to presidents, a guiding light to generations of American evangelicals and a globe-trotting preacher who converted millions to Christianity.

Graham, known as the preacher with a gentle, yet powerful,  voice evangelized to nearly 215 million people over six decades and prayed with US presidents from Harry Truman to Barack Obama.

Several presidents, including Lyndon Johnson, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton, relied closely on his spiritual counsel.

Graham is reported to have persuaded more than 3 million people to commit their lives to Christianity and his preaching was heard in 185 of the world’s 195 countries, according to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

The following is one of the most memorable prayers aired by Paul Harvey during one of his daily radio broadcasts. The following prayer received a larger response to his program “ The Rest of the Story” than any other Paul Harvey ever aired.

‘Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know your word says, “ Woe to those who call evil good,’ but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it a choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen

Billy Graham’s wish was that this prayer would sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called ‘One Nation under God”.

Billy Graham passed away Tuesday, February 21st at the age of 99.
