Billy Ray Tippie, 83, Rich Hill, Missouri, passed away January 21, 2021. Billy was born June 7, 1937 to Anson Roy and Mary Ethel (Marsh) Tippie.
Billy graduated from Rich Hill High School in 1955. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley West, on December 23, 1956. Billy and Shirley soon settled in Rich Hill where they worked and raised their sons, Roger and Dale. Billy worked as a mechanic for several years before working in maintenance at Cottey College, where he retired after 20 years. Billy enjoyed many hobbies. He pitched horseshoes and spent countless hours researching family history. There were many motorcycle trips across the country and he loved spending time visiting with everyone he met. Billy never met a stranger.
Billy is survived by his children, Roger and wife Traci Tippie and Myron Dale Tippie; grandchildren, Hailey (Brian) Gillis, Brodi (Jose) Mendez, and Kiley (Luke) Tourtillott; 10 great-grandchildren, Cooper, Sadie, and Cade; Maysi, Bryan, Isabell, Alex, and Tilli; Bowen and Logan; brother-in-law Darrell (Sherry) West; sisters-in-law, Shirley Tippie, Ruby Ellis, Dixie (Clay) Vodry; many nieces and nephews and several close friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Maurice and Hazel West; his wife, Shirley; daughter-in-law, Christina Tippie; brothers, Harvey LaVaughn (Waneta) Tippie, Keith (Elsie) Tippie, Gerald Tippie; sister, Margie (Alfred) Swarnes; and brother-in-law Marion Ellis.
