Congratulations go out to the Butler Bears football team. With a perfect season record of 8-0, the Butler Bears will head in to the Class 2 District 7 tournament seeded 1st. This record has also given them a bye for the first round of district play. The Butler Bears first district game will be Friday, November 6th. The Bears opponent won’t be determined until after the first round of district games on October 30th and could be either St. Michael the Archangel or Versailles, the location of the game has yet to be determined also. |

Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton.
In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
