During the regular Butler city council meeting last week it was announced that the long-awaited CARES ACT money has finally arrived, at least half of it- and the other half will come next year. With the first $400,000.00 now in the bank, the Butler City council will be discussing where it will be best used and more on this is expected to be revealed in the October 5th meeting.
A while back there was discussion about what to do with the old Butler pool building on South High Street and a decision has been made. There were previous concerns that the building was in bad condition, however a closer look reveals that while it needs roof work, overall, it’s in pretty good shape. Since the cost of a new building for any purpose would be astronomical, it was decided to go ahead and make repairs to this building and make it into something useful, such as a community room or similar.
Street paving was discussed, and thanks to good weather those projects are moving right along and are expected to be completed soon.
It was also announced that there will be another Town Hall meeting where the public can express concerns and ideas in an open forum on October 21st. Details to follow, Butler citizens are highly encouraged to attend.
The Butler city council meets on the first and third Tuesdays, 7 pm at the Butler city hall. Come get involved!
