Butler: Covid Christmas Protest Prade Planned for December 5th

The Butler Chamber of Commerce made a hard decision when the annual Butler Christmas Parade was cancelled this year. The Chamber made the decision due to the increase of Covid-19 cases in our community and for the protection of the citizens in our community, their decision was based on the fact that the Butler Christmas Parade draws a large crowd and social distancing would be a challenge.

Douty’s Auto Service located on Orange Street in Butler protested this decision. They know we are all tired of Covid restrictions and made the statement,  “ We want our Christmas Parade back.” Douty’s Auto Service invites the public the join them with a “drive-thru” Christmas Protest Parade.

Those participating with floats or automobiles are asked to line up by 4:30 at Douty’s Auto Service  Saturday December 5th . The drive-thru protest parade will leave for the Butler Square, traveling east on Dakota to the Butler square, go around the square and then head west on Ohio Street.

Floats and those participating will stay in their vehicles during the line-up and the public may watch the parade from the safety of their own vehicle or property. There is not a theme and no cash prizes, just show up to join the drive-thru Christmas Protest Parade. Anyone wanting to participate in the parade needs to line-up at Douty’s Auto Service by 4:30 on Saturday December 5th.

Those attending are asked to practice social distancing and wear masks. The 2020 Covid-Christmas Protest Parade drive-thru is hosted and sponsored by Douty’s Auto Service located at 5 North Orange Street Butler.
