Chromebook Vandalism
Butler High School is experiencing a lot of vandalism to the school’s Chromebooks. If a student opens up their Chromebook and notices a key missing or the device is damaged in anyway, the student is to report it to the school immediately. If the student does not report the issue, the student could be held responsible for the damage.
Track and Field Meeting/February 20
Butler High School students in grades 9-12 that are interested in participating in Track and Field this Spring are invited to the Track and Field Meeting on Tuesday, February 20th in the Butler High School Cafeteria at 3:10pm.
Prom Glasses On Sale Now
2018 Prom Glasses are on sale now! Order forms are available in a folder outside the Butler High School Office. The cost for a 2018 Prom Glass is $5, and the forms and money is to be returned to the Butler High School Office. The order forms are in black and white, but the glass can be viewed in its true colors on the bulletin board outside of the office. If a student orders a glass, it will be used at the student’s place setting the evening of Prom.
Butler High School Offers 2nd Chance Breakfast
Butler High School will be offering “2nd Chance Breakfast” between 1st and 2nd Hour. This will be a grab and go breakfast between classes, and regular breakfast/lunch account charge rules will apply. Students will need to have their food eaten by the time 2nd Hour beings, and tardy rules will stay in affect.
Country Meat Sticks Available
Country Meat Sticks are available in Mrs. Apple’s room before or after school. The meat sticks are $1 each, and they will be available while supplies last. The meat sticks are similar to beef jerky, and there are a variety of flavors available. All proceeds of the Country Meat Sticks sale will go to benefit VEX robotics.
Easter Convocation/March 29
Easter Convocation will be held on Thursday, March 29th at the First Baptist Church in Butler. Students are required to have a permission slip filled out to attend, and permission slips are available in the Butler High School Office. This is an opportunity for religious students to worship through song, message, and fun.
Register to Vote
Students who are 17.5 years of age and would like to register to vote can see Mrs. Hendricks either before or after school.
Fort Scott Community College hosts Junior and Senior Day/March 29
Fort Scott Community College will hosts Junior/Senior Day on Thursday, March 29th from 9:30am to 1pm with registration beginning at 9am. Students interested in attending can pre-register at www.fortscott.edu/jrsrday.
University of Missouri’s School of Medicine Offers Mini-Med Camp This Summer/Deadline March 1
The University of Missouri’s School of Medicine is offering a Mini-Med Camp this summer for current juniors. The application deadline is March 1st, and there are scholarships available for those who need it. See Mrs. Laughlin if interested.

The following College Representatives will be at Butler High School: Missouri Valley College, Pittsburg State University, and Wichita State University. Butler High School Juniors and Seniors interested in sitting and meeting with these representatives need to sign-up in the Counselor’s Office.
